Benched

Keywords: 3D animation, 3D modeling, character development

Tools: Maya, After Effects, Photoshop

“Benched” was created over the course of four weeks as part of the 3D Modeling and Animation workshop at the New York Film Academy in September of 2019. During those four weeks, I gained extensive experience using Maya to build environments, objects, and characters as well as to animate and create dynamic lighting for the scene. In the one-minute animated short, we see Jazz get benched during a pickup basketball game in the park. In his boredom on the sidelines, we see Jazz discover music as an escape from his not-so-rewarding experience as a basketball player.
